How many people go to therapy at some point in their lives?
It is strange thing. I mean how can anybody say that they understand us? To understand someone else is complicated. We can only really understand within our own understanding. How can someone tell us that they know our subconscious better than we do?
I sometimes have doubts about the 'subconscious'. Does it really exist? I think maybe often the subconscious is mistaken for 'habit'. A person may always react a certain way through habit. Is a habit then the subconscious?
The subconscious is the conscious, hidden. Hidden on purpose. When in therapy, maybe the patient just starts to 'open up', starts to confide in someone, thus is able to tell their darkest secrets.Sometimes maybe they can't, or don't want to.
It is certainly interesting. But, depends always on the patient. Some patients may find therapy rewarding and feel that it opens doors and changes their perspective a little. People can get stuck in routines, that lead to repetitive situations in life. (But on the whole, life is a cycle, maybe some peoples cycles are shorter than others) Some patients can break the cycle and move on. Find the inner happiness, the other 'I'.
Depending on where the problems lie of course. Not all problems are based on the psych, or our perspective. Some problems are very 'physical' whether that be health or circumstantial and therapy can not change the cycle.
Inner happiness and strength can be an excellent tool to use when we are in a bad situation, we can breeze through it. But the reality of it is, we are still in the same situation.
I found that kind of happiness. Having to deal with difficult situations, I learnt to be happy, really happy, and grateful for all I had. But one day when I really looked at my situation I could see it wasn't good. All those years I lived my 'Happy Fantasy' passed me by and my situation in some aspects was worse and more difficult to remedy, never mind cure.
So where does one go from there?
